I am very happy to have reached this appointment as it is something that I have dreamed of since a young girl. This desire first came about as I stood on the banks of the Cohocton River and listened to one of the best historians to ever come out of New York State, tell the story of the Presbyterian Church's move on this very same river. Mrs. Marie Cornell at that moment inspired me so much with h…

Shirley Temple Exhibit

It has really been crazy this last month getting the Swimsuit Retrospective set up at the Glenn Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, NY and two other exhibit at the Elm Cottage Museum in Bath, NY. The two exhibits in Bath have been fun to create, one is on vintage hats and on is on Shirley Temple. She is a fascinating woman! My next blog I will have photos from the Swimsuit Exhibit. Have a great day!

New Office Update

Well, I am getting there slowly! I spend a lot of time in my office everyday...as do so many of you. I know how important it is to me that I feel happy while being there. Nothing makes me happier than surrounding myself with my favorite things. I know, I know this sounds like a song from "The Sound of Music", but isn't it true that having your favorite things around you makes you feel good. This Friday is Pink Friday at Make Mine Pink with the theme of "Office Chic". China, vintage magazines (as in Ladies Home Journal with wonderful color advertisments), vintage umbrellas with the greatest early plastic handles (I believe they are from the 1920's and 1930's) two great wall pockets and a silver Whiting and Davis tiny purse are just a few of the great items I will be placing on 2 Chic 4 Shabby this week. &nbs…

Teaching Your Kids The Importance of Giving Their Time

This weekend my youngest son and I worked with many other adults at a fundraiser for our local SPCA. The SPCA is a cause very close to my heart. In these hard economic times the first line of funraising to loose their donors is animal welfare. Our local shelter is housed in it's original building that was contructed in the 1940's. It is a sad little building that is full of very wonderful people on the front lines everyday trying to recue animals from terrible conditions.…

SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE AUCTION

Last night I was off to Hayes Auction Barn with anticipation, that excited knot in my stomach. What is it about auctions that just get me going? I hadn't been to Haye's in several years, but I happily found that nothing has changed. You still have to get there early to put your number on one of the good seats, so you can see around the old post and beams. Margaret the auctioneer hasn't changed she still yells at her employees to keep things moving. She is just one o…
